As I listen to Joker in his video about Chuck Norris (and his appreciation) it got me thinking about how masculinity has gradually been on the decline in movies ever since at least the mid 2000s (at least in the west)
When you go back the definitive Era of masculinity being the 80s had everything, Jacked men, action up the ass just a time that you old boomers and younguns (like me) would see in movies years later or as you grew up from your parents. Even the 90s still had its share of action movies but no Era perfectly defined it as the 80s.
Be it TV shows or movies there was always a strong, stoic man leading an as showing what it was like to be a man's man. As the years went on action that masculinity would slowly be sidelined for men being the but of the joke or dumbed down where female action started to pick up.
