90's anime was the best. Change my mind.
On a whim, I decided to backup the small number of LD's (that's Laserdisc for you youngens) I have by manually ripping them. I dug up my LD player (Pioneer Elite DVL-91) that has been sitting in the box for some 2 decades, and hacked together an old PC (with PCI slot), so I can use M-Audio PCI card to capture digital audio from it. Video was captured analog.
Yes, I'm aware of the "Doomsday Duplicator" project for grabbing RF Composite data directly from the player, but my little collection is not worth that kind of trouble.
I used to also have Tenchi Muyou LDs (I think they were AnimEigo releases), but sold them, and replaced them with a DVD set instead.
I actually bought the Iketeru Futari LD _after_ I bought the DVD, so I have both.
I never replaced Sailor Moon LD's with DVDs, so LD version is all I have. I also never went past the original 46 episodes, besides R & S movie DVDs, although I did buy all the R2 DVDs of the live action version. Yeah, I was young and weird at one point.
I see Iketeru Futari only has MyAnimeList score of 6.51. This is why I never bother with their scores. Yes, it's over-the-top, unrealistic tsundere and what not, but I love the old CELL art style, and Koizumi is such a great 2D waifu, urr, GF material. I just love characters like her.
I don't have a large format scanner, so I took photos of the jackets. One of the pros of LDs was the large format art we get with each one, because, SIZE. Note, I had to blur out a small section of the back side of the Iketeru Futari LD jacket, because titties. I'm telling you. 90's were the best.
I also have two Ban'nou Bunka Nekomusume (Nukunuku), Mamono Hunter Yohko, and US release of Kiki's Delivery Service, but I have DVD versions of all of them, so I didn't bother ripping them.
